Porzio Welcomes Jeffrey K. Cymbler as Of Counsel

Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. is pleased to announce that Jeffrey K. Cymbler has joined the firm’s New York office as Of Counsel. Jeffrey will practice in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Department.

Jeffrey comes to Porzio from Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen, P.C., a New York City law firm, where he was Of Counsel.  Prior to that he was a partner at Angel & Frankel, P.C., a prestigious New York City bankruptcy boutique.   Jeffrey’s practice is diverse, having represented debtors, creditors’ committees, landlords, Chapter 7 and 11 trustees, assets purchasers, trade creditors and receivers in domestic and cross-border bankruptcy proceedings and restructurings.   Most notably, he has represented the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, as receiver of several failed financial institutions, including, Downey Savings & Loan Association, P.A. (third largest bank failure in 2008) and Guaranty Bank (third largest bank failure in 2009).

Before becoming licensed to practice law in 1984, Jeffrey graduated Yeshiva University magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science.  He went on to receive his J.D. from Boston University School of Law where he was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Bankruptcy and was an Edward F. Hennessey Scholar.
