Porzio managing principal Vito A. Gagliardi, Jr. was quoted in The Record article, "Bullying in Rockaway Township Spiked as Parents Sought Help Before Daughter's Suicide," by Abbott Koloff, on August 7, 2017. The article addresses an impending lawsuit against the Rockaway School District by the parents of a 12-year-old girl who committed suicide allegedly due to bullying at school and on social media. The article is also focused on incidents of bullying in New Jersey schools and the effectiveness of New Jersey's 2011 anti-bullying law.

Based on his vast education law experience, Mr. Gagliardi was asked to comment on the legal restrictions placed on school districts when responding to anti-bullying claims. Mr. Gagliardi stated that schools are prohibited from revealing the identity of disciplined students by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Additionally, specifics of the consequences for disciplined students may not be shared with the parents of bullied children.

Mr. Gagliardi is co-chair of Porzio's Education and Employment Department, which represents approximately 50 public and private schools across the state. He represents a number of school districts throughout New Jersey in a wide variety of matters.
