Just the FAQs
Below you will find frequently asked questions about our summer associate program. If you have other questions, please feel free to contact us directly.
What qualities does Porzio seek in a summer associate?
Like other firms, we look for summer associates with talent, ambition and a genuine interest in our practice areas. Beyond this, they must be people of high character, individuals who exhibit elevated values and pursue every opportunity to improve and contribute.
What kind of assignments will I receive?
The central theme of our program is “real work for real clients.” Your assignments will include essential research projects and the composition of legal memoranda, letters and briefs. Client interactions and attendance of depositions and court proceedings complement these assignments and add unique developmental prospects.
How does Porzio provide training?
We assign an associate and a principal to mentor each summer associate. Upon completion of each assignment, the assigning attorney formally reviews the final product and provides valuable feedback. Our inventive curriculum includes a series of lectures, workshops and seminars. We work closely with our summer associates to hone writing and research abilities and develop practical litigation and legal skills.
What type of feedback will I receive?
We believe that explicit communication is directly linked to self-awareness, which in turn prompts personal and professional growth. We afford each other the respect and consideration required for regular, sincere feedback. In keeping with these values, we are committed to being accessible and completing detailed evaluations of each project completed by our summer associates.
How likely am I to receive an offer?
Our goal is to hire all of our entry-level attorneys through the summer associate program. Program size varies, as do our hiring needs—each year, we evaluate our present circumstances, anticipate growth and hire the appropriate number of summer associates.
What is the compensation?
In 2012, first-year summer associates receive a salary of $1,700 per week. Second-year summer associates receive $2,100 per week.
What is the firm’s dress code?
Porzio has a full-time business casual dress policy. However, we require attorneys and summer associates to keep a suit on hand for court appearances, client meetings, depositions and other events.
Social Scene
Summer associates at Porzio experience a social schedule packed with invigorating activities ranging from barbeques to baseball games.
