Principal Bill Hughes Weighs-in on Atlantic County Prescription Fraud Probe

8/8/2017 | News

Porzio principal William (Bill) J. Hughes, Jr. was interviewed by The Press of Atlantic City and WOND regarding the pending Grand Jury investigation of alleged prescription drug fraud in New Jersey shore towns.

On July 31, 2017, the Prosecutor’s Office announced that Atlantic County grand jury subpoenas had been issued to the towns of Atlantic City, Ventnor and Margate to examine city employees’ health-insurance information. In discussing the investigation, prosecutor Damon G. Tyner speculated that the probe could widen to include doctors, pharmaceutical representatives and compounded drugs.

Stated Hughes, “Unfortunately, Prosecutor Tyner’s statement has only fueled the rumors, and saying that a hundred people could be arrested, that is going to have an impact on his investigation. It’s going to have an impact on the federal investigation.”
