Principal Kerri Wright Quoted in Article on Woodcliff Lake School Funding Matter

8/14/2017

Principal Kerri A. Wright was quoted in the NorthJersey.com article, "Hillsdale, River Vale will Fight to Keep Woodcliff Lake in Regional District," by Sarah Nolan, on August 14, 2017.

The article addresses the July 2017 state appellate court ruling allowing for the Borough of Woodcliff Lake to hold a referendum asking voters if the borough should withdraw from the Pascack Valley Regional High School District. The communities of River Vale and Hillsdale have asked the New Jersey Supreme Court to review the decision.

Ms. Wright, who represents Woodcliff Lake in the dispute, points out that when the District was originally founded, all four towns agreed to fund the district based on a per-pupil formula. The law was later changed to require regional districts to apportion tax levies based on property values. She stated, "What River Vale's mayor is 'fighting' against is the right of the voters to decide this issue, to decide how their children are educated and their tax dollars spent."
