Legal Assistant - Bankruptcy
Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, P.C. ("Porzio"), a mid-sized law firm headquartered in Morristown, NJ, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to support two attorneys specializing in bankruptcy. This role provides a high-level administrative support to, ensuring efficient operation and communication within the firm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Calendar Management: Coordinating and managing the attorney's schedule, including meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
- Communication: Acting as the point of contact between the attorney's and internal/external clients, handling correspondence, phone calls, and emails with professionalism.
- Meeting Coordination: Planning, organizing, and executing meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
- Document Preparation: Creating and editing documents, presentations, and reports as required by the bancruptcy team.
- Project Support: Assisting with various projects by providing administrative support, conducting research, and compiling data.
- Confidentiality: Handling sensitive information with discretion and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Conflict Checks: Coordinate preliminary conflicts checks with Conflict Check Group to ensure attorney and firm ability to represent requesting party.
- Prebills: Prepare and review prebills for accuracy, ensuring all billing information is correctly documented and submitted in a timely manner.
- Expense Reports: Compile and process expense reports, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably as a legal assistant or executive assistant
- Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
