Richard J. Oparil Quoted in Law360: "Welsh Gov't Says It Can't Be Sued Over Dylan Thomas Photos"

5/01/2015

In a motion filed on April 29th, the Welsh government and several U.S. publishers urged a New York federal judge to dismiss a copyright infringement lawsuit over the use of pictures of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas in U.S. tourism ads.

“Their complaint is devoid of any allegations of the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, and they certainly did not allege that any exception to immunity applied, which means that the complaint should be dismissed,” according to defense attorney Richard J. Oparil.  Oparil represents the Welsh government, Miami Herald Media Co., Gracenote, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Richmond Times Dispatch and E.W. Scripps Co.
