Alvin Weiss Volunteers in New Jersey's Guardianship Monitoring Program

Alvin Weiss, former assignment judge in Essex county, was quoted in an article titled, "Watching the Guardians: Volunteers sought to protect N.J.'s most vulnerable," by Bill Wichert of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. The Guardianship Monitoring Program utilizes volunteers to examine documents and input information into an electronic database to ensure guardians in the state of New Jersey are meeting reporting requirements. Previously, the sheer volume of cases has meant little to no oversight of guardianship. Weiss is quoted in the article as stating, "It's an absolute necessity that you get volunteers. This helps improve the system. It's a benefit to the public."
