Principal Vito A. Gagliardi, Jr. Selected to Serve on NJ's School District Annual Election Study Commission
Vito A. Gagliardi, Jr. has been selected by members of the Legislature and Governor Chris Christie to serve on New Jersey's School District Annual Election Study Commission. The commission was established on August 18, 2016 when Governor Christie signed into law S-2099/A-3728, which places a moratorium period of two years on moving the date of the annual school election from the day of the general election in November back to the third Tuesday in April. From June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2018, any school district's annual election moved to the date of the general election could not be moved back to April.
The commission studies voter turnout and fiscal impact and savings; specifically regarding moving the annual school election in April to the same date as November's general election and moving the annual school election in November to the third Tuesday in April. The commission also focuses on the implications of moving the annual school election as proposed above on school budgets.
