Porzio Hosted ABA Negotiation Workshop For Young Lawyers
Porzio, Bromberg & Newman hosted The American Bar Association's (ABA) Section of Litigation Regional CLE Workshop "The Art of the Deal: A Negotiation Workshop for Young Lawyers" on June 1, 2017, at Porzio's Morristown, New Jersey office. Sponsored by the ABA Section of Litigation's Young Advocates Committee and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, the program began with registration at 12:30 pm, workshops from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, immediately followed by a cocktail reception.
The program highlighted strategies for conducting more efficient negotiations and mediations and provide tools for young lawyers to skillfully advocate for their clients when conducting negotiations, including an eye-opening discussion of new ways to incorporate the power of persuasion and influence in the negotiation and decision-making process. This program featured a discussion about ways to avoid ethical pitfalls in the negotiation and mediation process.
Porzio Of Counsel James H. Coleman, Jr. and Counsel Michelle M. Burke joined John Mumford of Hancock, Daniel, Johnson & Nagle, P.C., as panelists for the session "Winning Advocacy Techniques at Mediation". The session provided attendees with strategies to help shift their focus from litigation to settlement during mediation while remaining an effective advocate for the client.
