Bill Hughes Quoted in Law360 Analysis article: "Why Doesn’t Paul Manafort Cut A Deal?"

Porzio Principal William J. Hughes was quoted in an article "Why Doesn't Paul Manafort Cut a Deal," in Law360.  Manafort proclaims his innocence against allegations of money laundering, tax evasion, bank fraud and hiding his "foreign agent" status despite others who have already cut deals.  

Hughes, a former Assistant US Attorney warns that a pardon could be legally risky. 

"Depending on the breadth of such a pardon, Hughes said, the blanket protection afforded Manafort could actually take away his ability to assert his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination if he’s compelled to testify in another proceeding."
