Overview
With more than 30 years of experience, Martin Healy is a dedicated trial lawyer focused on the defense of complex litigation, including class actions, multi-district litigation, and other mass torts, in state and federal courts nationwide. His client-centric approach emphasizes a deep understanding of his clients’ unique business needs, which enables him to craft strategic and cost-effective legal solutions that align with their objectives. He collaborates closely with clients making sure their voices are heard throughout the legal process. Whether pursuing a swift resolution through early case assessments, seeking dismissal of claims by way of motion practice, or advocating for clients at trial, he remains committed to protecting his clients’ interests.
Throughout his career, Martin has defended a wide range of claims for clients across diverse industries, including global power generation, pharmaceutical, medical device, and automotive manufacturers. His extensive experience encompasses product liability, negligence, and toxic tort claims related to drugs and medical devices, power generation systems, heavy equipment, and house-hold appliances. He has also defended all types of personal injury claims asserted against companies and individuals alike. In addition, Martin routinely handles complex commercial litigation, business disputes, consumer fraud claims, and employment-related issues. Working strategically with his clients, Mr. Healy has successfully handled thousands of cases, filed in numerous jurisdictions, from initial pleadings through to trial.
Beyond litigation, Martin serves as outside general counsel for several mid-sized manufacturing companies and actively engages with corporate compliance and licensing teams. He also serves as General Counsel to Porzio Compliance Services, one of Porzio’s thriving subsidiaries. Martin partners with clients to navigate corporate and regulatory compliance, risk management, business transactions, contract negotiation, employment matters, licensing, privacy, data security, and information management. He also routinely conducts internal investigations addressing everything from minor corporate policy violations to more serious allegations of corporate wrongdoing and criminal conduct, ensuring that your business operates smoothly and within legal boundaries.
In addition to his legal practice, Martin is actively involved in various legal and trade organizations, serving on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), and is the Past Chair of the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, and Biosciences Committee for the ABA’s Tort, Trial, and Insurance Practice Section.
Prior to joining Porzio, Martin was a partner in the Complex Litigation Department of an AmLaw 200 firm, and a trial attorney for general practice and insurance defense firms, where he handled a wide variety of matters and gained valuable jury trial experience. His extensive background equips him to provide tailored legal support that meets his clients’ specific needs.
