Overview
With a strong foundation in taxation as well as private client services, Andrew Lawson assists clients with the full lifecycle of trust and estate matters, from initial structuring to administration and dispute resolution. He works closely with fiduciaries, corporate trustees, financial institutions, and wealth advisors to ensure proper trust funding and distributions.
Andrew brings extensive experience in designing and implementing bespoke estate and wealth transfer strategies for high-net-worth individuals and families. He regularly advises on the use of advanced trust structures, including GRATs, QTIPs, IDGTs, APTs, and INGs, to achieve tax-efficient and asset-protective outcomes aligned with clients’ goals.
Additionally, Andrew advises businesses and their owners on entity formation, succession planning, and transaction structuring, including the tax implications of business divestitures. His experience includes preparing all necessary instruments for business formation and ownership transition, such as certificates of formation, operating agreements, and share transfer agreements.
His tax practice spans federal, state, and local levels, where he counsels clients on compliance, planning, and controversy matters. He represents individuals and businesses before the IRS and state taxing authorities and has led clients through audits, appeals, and risk mitigation related to income, sales, use, and business personal property taxes.
Andrew’s multidisciplinary approach is rooted in his prior work with Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he advised clients across industry sectors including manufacturing, professional services, healthcare, education, and private equity on federal, state, and local tax strategies, compliance, and planning.
