Hire Offers Strong Litigation Counsel for Class Action, Appellate, and Insurance Coverage Matters

Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. (Porzio) is delighted to announce that Francisco E. Colón-Ramírez has joined Porzio, Bromberg & Newman (PR), LLC, as Of Counsel. This addition will expand the reach of the law firm and its Porzio Life Sciences subsidiary in Puerto Rico, and further solidify Porzio's ability to serve clients' litigation and business needs in the region.

Colón-Ramírez is a litigator focused on professional liability, premises liability, products and medical devices, aviation, medical malpractice, class actions, directors’ and officers’ liability, and insurance regulatory and coverage. Colón-Ramírez has tried over ten federal jury cases with successful results, and has successfully defended all appeals taken to the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Colón-Ramírez is also highly regarded in Puerto Rico for his work related to COVID-19. In the early stages of the pandemic, Colón-Ramírez and others founded the Task Force Ciudadano, a team of volunteer citizens who track and report COVID-19 related information in Puerto Rico. Since then they have created a metrics-based system to rate the threat of the pandemic. The page has quickly become recognized as the go-to resource for businesses and citizens in Puerto Rico.

"Francisco's entrepreneurial spirit and extensive litigation experience are a perfect match for Porzio," said Vito A. Gagliardi, Jr., managing principal of Porzio and president of the firm's three subsidiaries, Porzio Life Sciences, LLC, Porzio Governmental Affairs, LLC, and Porzio Compliance Services, LLC. "We are thrilled to add Francisco to our team and to further our ability to provide extraordinary client service to current and prospective clients in Puerto Rico."

The announcement of Colón-Ramírez comes just fourteen months after Porzio first announced the firm's expansion to Puerto Rico with the addition of Luis G. Rivera-Marin.  Rivera-Marin is Of Counsel to the law firm and Manager, Puerto Rico Operations of Porzio Life Sciences, LLC. Rivera-Marin states, "Francisco adds gravitas to our presence in Puerto Rico, and together we will be strong advocates for the business, insurance and pharmaceutical communities on the island."
