NYC Issues Vaccine Mandate for All Private Employers

Today, Mayor Bill De Blasio announced a vaccine mandate for all private employers in New York City, effective December 27, 2021. Vaccine mandates were already in place for city workers, indoor dining, entertainment and gyms. According to Mayor De Blasio, this "first-in-the-nation" step would apply to about 184,000 businesses. The City is expected to publish guidelines on December 15, 2021, to provide more information on implementation and enforcement. A call center will also be set up to answer questions and provide support to businesses. The mayor stated that he is imposing the mandate as a pre-emptive measure to fight a surge of COVID-19 cases going into the winter months.  If you have a business located in New York City, you should reach out to legal counsel to prepare for this mandate.
