Porzio Promotes Joshua H. Abramson to Principal and Melanie D. Lipomanis to Counsel
Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. ("Porzio") Is pleased to announce the promotions of Joshua H. Abramson to principal and Melanie D. Lipomanis to counsel. Both are members of the firm's Litigation Practice Group. The promotions are effective July 1, 2022.
Josh Abramson is a skilled and tenacious litigator who takes a business oriented approach to achieve favorable outcomes for his clients. He represents companies and individuals in a wide variety of complex business related disputes, including those involving enforcement and breaches of contract, real estate and commercial property rights, fraud, corporate rights and responsibilities, and emergent applications for injunctive relief. Josh also maintains an active practice defending product manufacturers against claims of product liability, breach of warranty and wrongful death, often in cases involving catastrophic injuries; and, he represents several multi-national retailers in matters involving premises liability, insurance coverage, and indemnification.
Josh routinely appears in New York and New Jersey state and federal courts, and before arbitration tribunals. His corporate clients span several industries, including telecommunications providers, product and equipment manufacturers, equipment suppliers, commercial landlords and tenants, property managers, transportation carriers, and national cosmetic and food/beverage retailers. Josh has earned the respect of his peers around the country for his work, as he is often called on by other lawyers to serve as their local counsel in New York and New Jersey for a wide range of litigation matters.
Josh earned his J.D. from Rutgers Law School (Newark), and he received his B.A. with high distinction from the University of Michigan. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York before the United States Court District Court for the District of New Jersey, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. Josh is based in Porzio's New York City office.
Melanie concentrates her practice on counseling and defending management-side employers in all areas of employment litigation, wage and hour claims, EEOC and unfair labor practice charges, OSHA investigations, and audits and investigations by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's/Homeland Security. Melanie partners closely with human resources and labor relations professionals to provide counsel on all aspects of the employment relationship; conducts internal investigations involving discrimination, harassment, and ethics violations; and provides workforce training on anti-discrimination, diversity and inclusion, and ethics compliance.
Melanie is the firm's liaison to the Law Firm Anti-Racism Alliance, serves on the New Jersey State Bar Committee on Higher Education, and teaches employment law for Rutgers University, School of Management and Labor Relations.
Melanie earned her J.D. from Rutgers Law School-Newark, and received her B.A. from The National Labor College. Melanie is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, before the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, and United States Supreme Court. Melanie is based in Porzio's Morristown, New Jersey office.
