Overview
With a background as both an attorney and a CPA, Sandra Busell brings a unique combination of legal and financial experience to help clients protect their assets and plan for the future.
In her trusts and elder law practice, Sandra focuses on guardianships, Supplemental Needs Trusts, and protecting Medicaid benefits for the elderly and special needs children and adults.
Her estate planning work includes advising on business succession and assisting families with real estate transactions involving aging parents, including buying, selling, and transferring property. She also advises on reverse mortgages and the use of irrevocable trusts, which allow elderly family members to remain in their homes while protecting equity for themselves and their heirs.
Sandra handles contested estates, particularly among siblings, and advocates for non-executor beneficiaries to support fair and timely estate administration and distribution.
She is frequently appointed by the Supreme Courts in Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens Counties as a guardian, Supplemental Needs trustee, court-appointed attorney, and Court Evaluator for individuals alleged to be in need of a guardian.
