Porzio, Bromberg & Newman Expands Role in Uniroyal Holding Chapter 11 Cases with Appointment as Counsel to Official Retiree Committee

Porzio, Bromberg & Newman has been appointed as counsel to the Official Committee of Retirees in the Uniroyal Holding Chapter 11 proceedings, following the committee's formation by the Office of the United States Trustee. The appointment marks a new role for the firm in the case, building on its earlier representation of the Ad Hoc Retiree Group and positioning Porzio to represent retiree interests in the official committee process as the restructuring moves forward.

The Official Committee of Retirees was established by the U.S. Trustee on August 27, 2026, to represent retiree interests throughout the Chapter 11 proceedings. Following its formation, the committee appointed Porzio as its counsel.

Earlier this month, Porzio was retained as counsel to the Ad Hoc Retiree Group in connection with the debtors' restructuring efforts. The firm's appointment by the Official Committee of Retirees expands its role in the case and enables it to continue representing retirees as the Chapter 11 proceedings progress. Bankruptcy and Restructuring principals Rachel A. Parisi and Robert M. Schechter, who have led Porzio's representation in the matter from the outset, will continue to oversee the engagement as the Chapter 11 cases move forward.

The Chapter 11 cases involve a proposed restructuring framework that includes the resolution of current and future asbestos-related liabilities through a settlement trust, payment in full of non-asbestos claims, and the eventual dissolution of the debtors.
