

Overview
Samuel Buchbauer focuses his practice on estate planning, estate administration, and real estate matters primarily in New York state. He is committed to helping clients protect their assets and navigate the complexities of estate and tax planning with tailored legal solutions.
Samuel has extensive experience guiding clients through estate planning, assisting individuals and families with drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Proxies, and Trusts to ensure their wishes are carried out. He advises on strategies to minimize tax liabilities and preserve wealth.
In estate administration, Samuel works closely with executors and trustees, guiding them through the Surrogate’s Court probate process, handling necessary filings with tax agencies, and managing fiduciary responsibilities. He regularly researches and drafts legal memoranda on estate administration issues, such as domiciliary jurisdiction and executor commissions, to ensure the smooth administration of estates.
Samuel advises clients on the planning and structuring of real estate transactions, including strategies to minimize tax liabilities related to real estate and financial assets. He also assists clients in transferring real estate into trusts and ensuring compliance with tax requirements and divorce agreements.
Samuel is deeply committed to advancing diversity and inclusivity within the legal profession through his leadership as Chair of the LGBTQ+ Law Section of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and his previous role as Co-Chair of NYSBA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. He has actively led educational programs, policy initiatives, and advocacy efforts aimed at promoting inclusive legal practices and ensuring that all clients, regardless of background, receive fair and equitable representation. His leadership in these roles highlights his ongoing dedication to creating a more diverse, accessible, and equitable legal environment for both professionals and clients.
