Overview

Yarot Lafontaine-Torres is a corporate and regulatory attorney with 12 years of experience delivering practical and strategic legal solutions to clients in complex, highly regulated industries. He combines in-house leadership, law firm experience, and financial acumen to provide innovative legal counsel that helps businesses thrive in today's evolving regulatory landscape. Mr. Lafontaine’s practice covers regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and transactional law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, private investment funds and investment advisers, FinTech, banking and financial services regulation, and securities matters.

In his role as General Counsel  at FinTech startups providing banking and custody services to the digital asset ecosystem, Mr. Lafontaine led efforts in banking compliance, corporate governance, and capital-raising, enabling the companies to navigate a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. He developed frameworks and aligned strategic business objectives with legal requirements—a skill set he now applies to his clients' most complex challenges.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Lafontaine spent six years in one of the largest Chambers & Partners-ranked law firms in Puerto Rico, advising clients on M&A transactions, corporate governance, federal and state financial regulatory compliance, and capital-raising. This experience, along with his early roles as a financial analyst at Operating Partners Co., a distressed asset management firm, and Lehman Brothers Inc., provide Mr. Lafontaine with a unique financial perspective and a deep understanding of the legal and financial ecosystems that drive business growth and innovation.
